AIM 2027 Call for Sessions
Thank you for your interest in potentially presenting at the 2027 AIM Conference. AIM 2027 will be held May 2-5 at the Hyatt Regency Resort and Spa in Huntington Beach, CA.
Speaker/Presentation Proposal Process
From October 19 - December 11, the producers of AIM will host an open call for session ideas, and also a call for presenters that would like to speak at AIM 2027.
We encourage you to submit your ideas here for full presentation sessions, or for roundtables that you’d like to host. This year, we’ll be trying some new things.
1. In the Spotlight - Stage Presentations
These opportunities are typically focused on research findings, or a particular business challenge or opportunity, and can present detailed case information or analysis to support sharing their solutions with the audience.
These sessions are showcased on our stages, and have full audio-visual support and we request the use of visual presentation materials. We expect 100-300 people or more to attend. Speakers are required to prep with our public speaking coaches who host 3-4 online sessions to outline, create and rehearse its delivery. These topics are evaluated on:
- Business impact, importance and current relevancy
- Organized communication of topic and deliverables
- Wide-scale applicability
- Novelty
- This year, we will tailor the speaking spots to the size and your desired length of your session. If you’d like to request 15 minutes for a one-person presentation, or 45 minutes for a 3-person presentation, you have that option. Or one person for 45 minutes. Not every stage spot needs to be 3-4 presenters.
- We are excited by the different forms of education that have been pioneered on our stages. You’ll be able to specify one of our formats, or propose your own. Standard formats include traditional research/case study presentation, panel presentation, game show activation, interactive or “theatrical” presentation, debate or stage-led collaboration.
- Unless otherwise approved, the presentation coach for each session will serve as the session moderator.
- We will try very hard not to feature panel discussions with a moderator quizzing respondents. These sessions feel lower-energy than presentations, and can focus on consensus more than candor.
- We request your understanding that public relations firms, communications staffers will not be allowed to participate in session calls in lieu of an accepted speaker. Comms pros can support as required.
6. Timeline Requirements
All presenters will be asked to adhere to the following timeline to avoid a rush at the end that compromises quality preparation.
- January 5, 2027 - all speakers to agree to terms and conditions, and affirm that the accepted presentation outline will be adhered to
- By February 12, 2027 - First call with Ovation presentation coaches to review outline and presentation goals
- By March 12, 2027 - Develop first draft of presentation
- By April 2, 2027 - First full table read of presentation
- By April 16, 2027 - Final presentation slides delivered to AIM production team for technical review
- By April 23, 2027 - Final presentations will be loaded and sequenced into show presentation computers
- Onsite tech checks on Sunday May 2 and Monday May 3 for all speakers
For more nuance about our sessions and our process, please watch our new for 2027 video on how we think about selecting sessions that the audience will love.
2. Eye Level Conversations - Informal Roundtables
Roundtable sessions are held throughout the conference at breakfast, lunch and sometimes in between. These can be more informal, personal opportunities to attract a group of people who are interested in the same thing, to catch up on shared projects, to share results from ongoing research or to ask for help. Roundtables do not have audio-visual support, and are not supported by our coaches. These groups are smaller, and may typically draw 5-30 attendees.
Other Opportunities to Lead and Get Involved
- Organize and participate in informal “meetup” groups. When the conference app is released in April, check out the spontaneous organization of meetups by other attendees. Groups may relate to the multifamily business or to personal topics, geography, shared interests, lifestyle, health and more.
- Sip N’ Sync reverse tradeshow. We host a no-cost reverse tradeshow, in which property owners and managers can request 15 minute meetings with any sponsoring company. All PMC companies are eligible to sign up and commit to a minimum number of meetings. We have a limited number of tables in the meeting room, so please sign up early. We will notify selected vendor partners of their meetings and who requested the meetings approximately one week prior to the conference.
