Anders Engnell

Anders Engnell is a real estate development and construction manager with 7 years of experience in people-first, master plan community development. His work in sustainable and affordable housing & public spaces has spanned Detroit, Los Angeles, and Phoenix. He currently leads construction for Culdesac Tempe, the first car-free neighborhood built from scratch in the US, after joining the team in September 2018.

Previously, he was a development manager at the Housing Authority of the City of LA, where he led nationally-renowned developers, contractors, and consultants in the $125 million Phase 1 mixed-use, public housing redevelopment at Jordan Downs in Watts, Los Angeles.

He has a Master's in Urban Planning from the University of Southern California with a certificate in real estate development and Bachelor's in Mathematics and Creative Writing from Oakland University in Rochester Hill, Michigan.

Over the past years, he has worked with owners, developers, multifamily REITs, and third-party fee managers in discovering which conventional apartment assets can achieve additional cash flows through flexible living options.

Collin came to RealPage with over 15 years of institutional multifamily experience focusing on the acquisition, development, and asset management of conventional multifamily communities. David Krauss fell in love with short-term rentals in 2013, has hosted over 6,000 guests, and won an award in 2019 as a Top 100 Host in the World from Airbnb. When a noise issue in 2015 led him and a cofounder to create NoiseAware, the "smoke detector for noise," David began meeting passionate hosts and managers from around the country who all faced similar challenges. Jamie Lane is Vice President of Research for AirDNA, a short-term rental data & analytics company.  He is responsible for data analysis, thought leadership, and leveraging advanced analytical techniques to provide new insights into short-term rental supply, demand, and pricing trends.   He has been published in academic and professional journals and regularly speaks at lodging industry forums.  

Prior to AirDNA, Jamie spent 10 years as an economist at CBRE, leading research, forecasting and data intelligence teams to support client analysis. Mr. Lane is an active member of the National Association of Business Economists and the Atlanta Economics Club. Jamie holds a B.S. in Economics from the University of Georgia and an M.S. in Business Economics from Georgia State University.

Jaja Jackson is a Senior Vice President in the direct real estate investment group at ICONIQ Capital. Prior to ICONIQ, Mr. Jackson spent over four years with Airbnb leading the company’s multifamily real estate strategy, partnerships and partner success. Prior to Airbnb, Mr. Jackson worked for more than a decade as President of Property Management for Emerald Fund Inc. in San Francisco. Jason Fudin is the CEO and Co-Founder of WhyHotel based in Washington D.C. WhyHotel is a venture-backed start-up platform that operates at the intersection of hospitality and multifamily real estate. With its pop-up hotels, it operates furnished, transient stays out of the vacancy of newly built luxury apartments during the lease-up phase. With its hospitality living buildings, it will be operating assets as flexing dual-use between multifamily and hospitality on a permanent basis.

Prior to WhyHotel, Jason was the VP of Strategic Initiatives at Vornado Realty Trust where he worked on developing innovative commercial real estate concepts for the organization. Over his career, Jason has managed commercial real estate development projects valued at over $2 billion and has worked in real estate development, acquisitions, and capital markets. He has his B.Eng. in Mechanical Engineering with a minor in Management from McGill University and his M.S. in Finance and Real Estate from American University.

Joel Tampien is a Special Forces veteran. Acting as the Senior Logistics Advisor for his Battalion, Joel acquired the discipline and dynamic leadership skills distinct to military officers who lead hundreds of soldiers and deal with multi-million dollar operational budgets. After graduating from Whitworth University and spending 6 years in the military, he decided to retire and return home to the Inland Northwest. His next challenge was to start 4 Degrees Real Estate with someone he respected and admired immensely, his older brother Jordan. Joel brings his background of leadership and tactical problem solving to his role as head of the property management division of 4 Degrees. Ryan has worked on transportation and urban planning with the New York Metropolitan Transportation Authority, Bain Capital Private Equity, and city government in Chile. Ryan has been a real estate investor for two decades.

Sandy is 16 year real estate development veteran in Los Angeles, New York, and Chicago and is a Principal & Managing Partner at CityPads, a developer of high density, affordability driven, and transit oriented multifamily assets in Los Angeles and Chicago.  Previously Sandy was the 12th employee of Common, the largest density focused & technology driven residential brand in the U.S which he helped grow into 7 new markets and from ~200 units to ~8,000 units in 5 years Prior to that, Sandy held roles in acquisitions, finance, development, and asset management with Adam America Real Estate (~4,000 units of multifamily and condos in NYC) and Andover Properties, one of the largest private self storage owners/operators in the U.S. now invested by Blackstone.
 
He is a 16-year Urban Land Institute member, and founding member of the ULI Technology & Real Estate Product Council.  Sandy has a BA from Skidmore College and MS from Columbia University and resides in Los Angeles, CA.

Steven Benjamin

Since being elected mayor in a record turnout election in April 2010, Mayor Steve Benjamin has made it his mission to create in Columbia the most talented, educated and entrepreneurial city in America.

His service in Columbia started back in 1990 when he served as student body president at the University of South Carolina, later becoming the Student Bar Association President at the USC School of Law.

In addition to serving as Mayor of Columbia, Mayor Benjamin also serves as President of the U.S. Conference of Mayors and as Chairman for Municipal Bonds for America. He teaches a class at the University of South Carolina Honors College and Columbia College titled “Columbia, South Carolina: Building a Great City” and is a member of Kappa Alpha Psi and Sigma Pi Phi fraternities.

Mayor Benjamin is married to the Honorable DeAndrea Gist Benjamin, Chief Administrative Judge (Common Pleas) for South Carolina’s Fifth Judicial Circuit. The two are the proud parents of daughters Bethany and Jordan Grace.
